In LAN this week, we brought learning to life through hands-on experiences and engaging play. Our theme, "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Once I Caught a Fish Alive", supported counting, rhyming, and storytelling. The children loved our trip to Legoland, where they explored, built, and let their imaginations run wild. In class, we worked on our fine motor skills while preparing yummy pita pizzas, learning to cut and assemble ingredients independently. During outdoor water play, we experimented with which objects float or sink, sparking lots of curious questions and discoveries. It’s been a wonderful week of exploration, creativity, and sensory learning! |

This week, our learning took us out of this world as we explored the nursery rhyme "Zoom, Zoom, Zoom, We're Going to the Moon!". Our activities were all about rockets, stars, and the wonders of outer space. On Monday, we took a trip to Tesco to buy ingredients, and later in the week, we had lots of fun baking and decorating star-shaped biscuits. The children loved combining their learning with hands-on fun. We can't wait to spend another exciting week together next week! |

As part of our learning for Black History Month, the children enjoyed the beautiful story Hair Love by Matthew A. Cherry. We used the book as a springboard to celebrate what makes us unique, with a special focus on different hair types, textures and styles. The children expressed themselves through creative artwork and took part in imaginative play in our role-play hair salon. We loved discussing the importance of family, identity, and embracing what makes us all unique. It was a thoughtful and engaging week, full of creativity, exploration, and celebration of our differences. |

This week in class, we had a fun and happy time celebrating birthdays! Our book of the week was Happy Birthday, Maisy, which the children really enjoyed. The children loved following Maisy as she got ready for her birthday party – from sending out invitations to blowing out her candles. We danced, learnt new things, and listened to cheerful birthday songs throughout the week. It was also a special – and a little bit sad – time as we said goodbye to our lovely teacher, Miss Wilson, who is leaving us. We will miss her very much and wish her all the best on her next adventure! |

This week, we read The Colour Monster and had lots of fun learning about different feelings! We talked about how colours can show emotions, like happy yellow, sad blue, angry red, and calm green. The children shared times when they felt these emotions and learnt that it's okay to feel all kinds of ways. We also made our own emotion jars, just like in the story, using colourful materials to show how different feelings can mix and change. This week we did lots of fun activities to help us understand and talk about our feelings better. |

What a fantastic first full week back! Our LAN children have settled in well and are already showing great curiosity, confidence and are loving getting back into the school routine. This week, we enjoyed our new story ‘Owl Babies’, exploring the characters and talking about being brave when we miss our grown-ups—just like the baby owls! We loved creating our owl artwork, retelling the story, and exploring and making our own owl nests. |
